Sustainable Aquaculture

Nekton and its subsidiaries aim to be active contributors to the sustainable development of the aquaculture industry. Along our coastline, we have excellent conditions for producing healthy food for a growing global population.

What is Global G.A.P?

Global G.A.P. is an international standard for food safety and is a voluntary certification for all food producers worldwide. The main requirements for being certified through Global G.A.P. include minimizing environmental impact on aquaculture operations, reducing the use of chemicals, and having a responsible approach to employee health, as well as good animal welfare.

Global G.A.P. has developed standards for both agriculture and aquaculture. The standard is designed to assure consumers that the food, in this case farmed salmon, is produced according to the requirements needed to be certified as a Global G.A.P. producer.

The Global G.A.P. standard assures consumers that the salmon has been produced at an aquaculture facility under the following conditions:
